Weight loss advice

Weight loss advice from a registered dietitian and nutrition coach in Stratford-upon-Avon, throughout Warwickshire and the West Midlands

If you are looking for sensible, evidence-based advice on managing your weight, then you’ve come to the right place.  I have been helping people manage their weight for over 10 years now.

Working together we can take a good look at what you are currently eating and work out small, achievable changes that fit in with you – these changes might be to your fat and sugar intake, to the balance of your meals, to your snacks, or to your portion sizes.  I can help increase your awareness of the ideal portion sizes and give you your own pictorial guide to portion sizes.

Not just what and how much, but how to eat – and to stop eating

I am a great believer in looking the ‘how’ you are eating as much as the ‘what’ and ‘how much’.  Together we can explore whether there are subtle psychological reasons you eat what and when you eat,  and if so, strategies for tackling these.  Alternatively, if its the practical meal preparation skills you lack, I can give you practical tips.

I subscribe to the ‘Health At Every Size’ philosophy – so you won’t get any lectures or moralising from me if you are overweight – just supportive guidance to finding a healthy lifestyle that you are comfortable and happy with – even if it means your BMI is over the healthy range.  If you don’t want to be weighed, I am happy to keep the emphasis completely away from the number on the scales.

I am trained in helping you achieve a mindful or intuitive eating approach – a non-diet approach to listening to your own body’s cues to eat, and to lose the guilt some people have around eating.    If emotional or comfort eating is an issues for you, we can work together through the incredibly powerful Understanding Your Eating programme.

Longer term support translates to longer lasting changes

If you struggle with eating and weight issues, you probably already realise that there are no quick fixes.  All the studies point to longer term support being key to longer term changes.  Therefore, although I am happy to see you for a one-off session, you are probably going to want to have a series of sessions with me over 3 months, 6 months or a year.
